Ironman Countdown Begins

7 days to Ironman Langkawi. I have done all the training my body, mind and schedule allowed. Now comes the fun part. I am about to experience the Ironman!!

IMG_2140Now, I just need to get through the logistics: flights, hotel, and most importantly, equipment transport.

I managed  to get a bike box (cardboard box) from one of the bike shops (Lucky for me they were NICE enough to let me have one for FREE!).

I did research and look around for a proper bike carrier, but they cost in the high hundreds - the nice ones more than RM1000. So, I’ll save that purchase till next time! This time bubble wrap will have to do!

On the training front, I plan to rest, stay healthy and try not to lose fitness.

Putrajaya Night Marathon 2010

The 4 hour barrier has not been broken. IMG_2128

4:14:47 is what I managed after fully cramping both my legs close to 30k. – what a drag! I just did not have it this day. My legs just stopped working and there was nothing i could do about it. (except stop and stretch)

Once again the marathon has proven itself as the ultimate test of endurance. In spite of all my ironman training, I will need to train specifically for the 42km run in order to break 4hrs. (long runs will be crucial)

The event itself was well organized. I think I prefer the morning races though. I didn't feel fully rested after failing to get  shut eye in the afternoon.

Well there is always a next time. The finishers T- shirt is nice. Too bad no pictures this time.(so far)

Training : 5k taper run for the Putrajaya Night Marathon

Today I did a real easy 5k. It gave me that feeling of comfort and confidence that I need for the marathon tomorrow. a0026This will be my 3rd full marathon, and the first one at night. I expect conditions to be similar to morning runs, but maybe a little hotter. Those highways in Putrajaya will have spent the day soaking up heat.

Well, I  hope my taper run helps. If it does,  (will know in about 24 hours) then ill probably use it for every race.

Now I rest.
